Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. It is simply restorative, it is the centering of your breath & body aligning the physical and mental aspects by practicing stillness / gentle movements for long / extended periods of time. During the long holds of restorative yoga, your muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It's a unique feeling because it is the props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Our classes are very mellow, making them a good complement to more active practices and an excellent antidote to stress.
This class is referred to as "active relaxation." When supported by props, the body is stimulated to deeply relax and move toward balance. Generally speaking, restorative poses are ideal for rejuvenation when you are feeling weak, fatigued or stressed.
